TALES OF THREE DOGS
I purchased a ranch back in California a few years ago and inherited the ranch dog Murphy. He wouldn’t come near me the first 2 weeks. Then, one morning I was at the workbench in the garage looked down and there he was sitting by my right foot. He hardly ever left my side except to make his morning rounds around the property.
Many times as I was doing some work in the front pasture he would always be with me.
We lived at the bottom of a steep paved road which tee’d into our paved driveway and a gravel road to our neighbors up another hill. Often I would hear a car coming down the steep road and Murphy would take off to the driveway. He would growl, get his fur up, go about 20 feet up our driveway, then come back to my side. Shortly after, I could hear the car going up the gravel road up the hill. Other times, Murphy would do the same, but keep going up the driveway to the sharp right turn and shortly after he would start barking at the car that turned down into our driveway. So, he knew before the car turned one way or the other, which way it was GOING TO GO.
It was like he was tapped into the driver’s brain waves and knew before the driver turned which way he was thinking. This happened dozens of times.
Whenever a car stopped in our drive Murphy was always very friendly with the people arriving. Except, we had a very nasty neighbor, and if he ever came to our house Murphy would not let him get out of his truck!
A friend told me about one of her friends who lost the diamond from her wedding ring while working in the garden. She spent hours going back over the ground she had worked on, but no diamond. Remembering a segment in my friend’s book she had read about HIRING THE ANGELS. She wrote on a piece of paper, “Angels of lost and found, please help me find my diamond.” She placed the paper under her pillow and slept on it. After the second night her dog was fussing with something while up on her bed as she was getting dressed. As she tried to shoo him off the bed, she saw that he was pawing at her diamond! He had found it and brought it to her bed!
I lost my partial denture and turned the house upside down looking for it for over a week. The night before I had an appointment with my dentist to re-do the impressions for a new one, I wrote a similar note to the lost and found angels and put it under my pillow. The next morning when I came home from my walk one of my dogs was sitting in the dining area with my denture in front of his paws on the carpet!
